Mission

I specialize in working with parents, couples, and families struggling with relationship difficulties, complex trauma, spiritual crises, and underlying anxiety and depression. I believe in the healing power of creativity and experiential learning as essential parts of facilitating a personal growth experience. Much of my work is focused on the importance of choice, increasing motivation for change, and the existential pursuit of meaning and authentic living.

Method

I utilize a relational approach and collaborative problem-solving building on a foundation of interpersonal neurobiology, attachment theory, and internal family systems supporting each person on their own unique journey towards healing and transformation. While symptom reduction is important, I also strive to help clients address the deeper issues underlying the symptoms. My approach is often focused on helping parents, families, and individuals build effective skills through increased self-awareness, learning strategies for self-inquiry while increasing compassion and curiosity, and deepening the relationship with oneself in order to improve relationships with others.

Experience

I have over twenty years of experience working with individuals, families, parents, and couples in crisis. I also have an extensive background facilitating multi-day therapeutic intensives and experiential retreats focused on addressing underlying attachment wounds, clarifying boundaries, improving communication, and repairing deep ruptures in relationships. I’m certified in the Neurosequential Model of Therapeutics (NMT) and completed advanced training in internal family systems (IFS), psychodrama, gestalt, expressive art therapy, nature-based therapy, depth-oriented sand tray, and level 2 training in eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR). Additionally, I have completed advanced training and certification in psychedelic-assisted psychotherapy with an emphasis on ketamine-assisted psychotherapy, the investigative trials of MDMA-assisted psychotherapy, and psycho-spiritual preparation, integration, and harm reduction in the emerging field of psilocybin-assisted psychotherapy. My training and education continue to be centered around the integration of evidence-based practice, experiential learning, and the advocacy for innovative treatment strategies to effectively work with the complexities of mental health issues today and into the future.

Interests

I enjoy being active, exploring different cultures, and doing anything outdoor adventure-related, especially if it involves diving in a coral reef or recreating in the high mountains. In my spare time, I enjoy playing the guitar, trying out new instruments, getting my hands dirty in the garden, and sharing my love for nature and music with my wife and two sons.
