Parent Coaching

“If there is anything that we wish to change in the child, we should first examine it and see whether it is not something that could better be changed in ourselves.”

-Carl Jung

Approach

With a background spanning over two decades assisting parents and families in crisis, our team specializes in delivering attachment-based parent support that recognizes the complexities affecting families today. We offer compassionate and research-based support to help parents develop new ways to respond to and contain the needs and reactions of their children. Our approach is rooted in the belief that the journey of helping parents heal is inseparable from the healing of children, and we aim to offer a vital resource to support healthy parent-child relationships, building a foundation of well-being for both parents and children.

Expertise

Our expertise is focused on addressing a broad spectrum of issues related to ineffective boundaries, communication difficulties, loss of safety and connection, codependency, enmeshment, reactivity, and distrust within the parent-child relationship. Our primary objective is to equip parents with the insight and practical skills to repair, rebuild, and reassert balance within the parent-child relationship. Attachment-based parent coaching is fundamentally different than most parent coaching. Rather than focusing on behavior plans and consequences that rarely work, we help parents dig deeper to understand the unique ways that they experience emotion, boundaries, and the need for control. By combining insight and practical skills, our goal is to help parents forge resilient connections and healthy boundaries so that parents and children can navigate the intricacies of self-reliance and interdependence throughout the lifespan.

Method

We provide personalized and evidence-based support to help parents develop healthy, secure attachments with their children, thereby improving communication, expanding capacity to effectively respond and contain emotion, and clarifying boundaries. Guided by the belief that insight is a necessary building block for effective skills, we aim to help parents embark on their own path of self-discovery; creating a pathway for constructive and enduring change within the family system. Our coaching team is available for telehealth sessions ranging from 1 to 3 hours in length. In-home coaching sessions and multi-day family and parent sessions are also available.
